“History In the Making…”

Kanye is not only ‘Watch-ing the Throne’ but is now,’Taking The Throne’.
This week, I thought we would take a look at covers from this time, last year, starting with the December/January 2011 issue of Complex magazine featuring the one and only, Kanye West.
Flashback to 2009, after receiving bad press since his incident with Taylor Swift, Kanye West has now joined alliances with one of hip-hops biggest stars, Jay-Z, in order to work his way back to the throne (took him long enough!). As the saying goes – if you can’t beat them, join them.
Kanye West shares the stage with Jay-Z with their new album ‘Watch The Throne’, but this time, he is welcome. This has been a big year for Kanye’s music career with the release of his album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ in November 2010 as well as the duo’s new album released in August this year.
Just like the December/January 2011 cover of Complex magazine, the contrast of his latest two albums are almost black and white. Kanye’s previous album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ emerged his almost remorseful attitude towards the all too well known Swift incident as he states in #1 hit song Monster “I’m living the future so the present is my past”. His latest album however, which has already sold over 975,000 copies in the US, is a much lighter content with more focus on both star’s wealth and generations, both past and future.
“The Kings”of hip-hop have been praised with the success of their debut album, with fans stating “This is the most important album in hip-hop history”.
Both artists are set in full force to make this album their legacy -“Built a republic, that still stands/I’m tryna lead a nation to leave to my little mans”.
‘Let’s have a toast for the jerkoffs’ and look back through some of his past featured covers…
