Big Day Out : Did it live up to the hype?

As end of the year approaches, it’s that time of the year where the winter months are out shone by the longer spring days, and summer feels so close you can almost taste it in the air.

Each time this year the change of the season marks the annual announcement of Australia’s Big Day Out line-up. The rumours have been circulating after months of speculation as it’s the BDO’s twentieth anniversary, some pretty big names are expected.

With months of furious internet gossip the actswere revealed drip by drip over 2 hours on Triple J last week, with only the international acts being announced the next morning.

It appears Triple J is keeping their audiences in suspense for as long as possible before revealing the first live performances. Festival organisers have stated that there are “Many more big names to come in the 2nd announcement!”

With the media storm surrounding the annual festival, it appears once again that The Music Network magazine has not let the hype surrounding The Big Day Out go unnoticed. Being featured the current weeks issue, marking the events 20^th anniversary. However, the question still remains, with the first 20 acts confirmed and the 2nd announcement soon to be revealed, will Big Day Out live up to the hype?
